Obituary of Dorothy Kammer Varnell

Dorothy Kammer Varnell, 92, formally of Mount Vernon, TX passed away on February 3, 2018 in Winnsboro, TX.  She was born March 1, 1925 in Mount Vernon, TX to the late Sam and Lessie Ingram.  Ms. Varnell was a member of Cypress Springs Baptist Church.  She was a volunteer organizer for the Samaritan Shop, member of the Auxillary and American Legion Post #243 where she worked the Bingo.  She also attended the Mount Vernon Meal Center every day.  She loved Gospel music, loved coloring and gardening.

She is preceded by her husband, William Varnell; son, Eric Dale Thacker; brothers, Homer and Elwood; sisters, Laura, Mary, Mae and Doris.

She is survived by son, Ronald Warshall and wife Connie of Appleton, WI; daughter, Deborah Lair of Mount Vernon, TX; grandchildren, Crystal Lair of Paris, TX, John Lair and wife Tonya of San Antonio, TX, Sarah Warshall of Appleton, WI; three great-grandchildren; brother Billy Ingram and wife Mildred of Mount Vernon, TX; sister, Nellie Kladis of Chicago, IL.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 10:30 – 11:00 am at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Stephen Smith and Samuel Lawrence officiating.

In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations to be made to the Samaritan Shop or American Legion Post #243 in her name.
