Obituary of Margaret Anne Maples

Margaret Anne Maples, age 79, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away in the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Kindred Central Hospital in Dallas, with her loving family by her side.  Margaret was born on October 26, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late James Semple and Anna Nief Hay.  Margaret worked and retired from Warner-Lambert Corporation and then went on to work for Dallas Independent School District where she retired a second time.

Margaret married Alvin Lloyd Maples II on October 26, 1984 in Dallas, Texas.  Together they enjoyed their later working years and life in retirement together until his passing on November 4, 2010. 

Margaret was a lifelong Presbyterian.  In her free time, she enjoyed travelling, reading, and working crossword puzzles.  Margaret also enjoyed the lunches she shared with her many friends.  Those who knew Margaret best will remember the love she had for her beloved family, the dedication she had to her work, and the joy she took from both.

Margaret is survived by one son, Alvin Loyd Maples III, and wife Karen, of Mesquite; two daughters, Barbara Ann Melton, and husband John, of Frisco and Cynthia “Cindy” Frazier, and husband Gary, of Wilmer, Texas; grandchildren, Valerie Danford, and husband Chet, Allison Harris, Keith Frazier, and wife Kim, Mark Frazier, and wife Jaden, Brandon Harris, and wife Anna, Christopher Harris, and wife Serena, and Jessica Harris; great-grandchildren, Angel Frazier, Noah Frazier, Chase Horton, and Aaron Danford; brother, Bill Hay, and wife Sylvia, of New Orleans; sisters, Martha Weikert, and husband Fred, of Shalimar, Florida and Marylou Hay of New Orleans; and by a host of other relatives and vert special friends.

Margaret was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Maples; one sister, Marion Hoover; and one brother, Ralph Hay.

Funeral services for Margaret Maples will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Hood officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Vernon City Cemetery with Aaron Danford, Chet Danford, Keith Frazier, Mark Frazier, Chase Horton, David Maples, and John Melton serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, at the funeral home.
