Obituary of Carl Leon Sides, Jr

Carl Leon Sides, Jr., age 41, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Buna, Texas, passed away in the early afternoon hours of Monday, September 18, 2017 in Mount Vernon.  Carl was born on July 19, 1976 in Elyria, Ohio to Carl Leon Sides, Sr. and the late Ouida Turner.  Carl became a skilled mechanic and learned how to fix almost anything a broke down car could throw his way.

Carl married Shyreen Nichole Goodman in 2010.  Together they have spent the last 7 years raising a young family and living a lifetime of memories.

Carl was a longtime resident of Buna, Texas – having only been in Mount Vernon a few short weeks after fleeing from Hurricane Harvey.  In a few short weeks they found a home in Mount Vernon.  Carl attended the Central Baptist Church in Buna.  Those who knew him best will remember Carl as an awesome mechanic and even better husband, father and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. 

Carl is survived by his wife, Shyreen, of Mount Vernon; sons, Corban Goodman of Mount Vernon, Johnathan Harris of Livingston, Texas, C.J. Doucet, and wife Cheyenne, of Lumberton, Texas, and Nathan Doucet of Woodville; daughters, Heather Thrasher, and husband Richard, of Woodville, Bailey Sides of Fred, Texas, Montana Sides and Autumn Sides, both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Kalyn Thrasher, Kaiden Thrasher, Kaleb Thrasher, Jax Doucet, Kac Doucet, Ethan Harris, Jonathan Harris, Jr., and John Harris; father, Carl Sides, Sr., and wife Maria, of Vidor; brothers, Howard Sides, and wife Kayla, of Vidor, Texas, Melvin Sides, and wife Ayla, of Vidor, Texas, and Johnny Sides, and wife Tiffany, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; sister, Ada Ortolon, and husband Chuck, of Orange, Texas; brothers-in-law, Larry Goodman, Jr., and wife Amanda, of Mount Vernon, Cory Goodman, Sr. of Mount Vernon, Stacy Goodman, and wife Rachael, of Selmer, Tennessee, and Leo Goodman, and Cindi, of Mount Vernon; sister-in-law, Pam Scott, and husband Ronnie, of Silsbee, Texas; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Kuhl officiating.  Burial will follow at Winfield Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 -8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, at the funeral home.
