Obituary of Mary Margaret Hernandez
Mary Margaret Hernandez, age 83, of Plano, passed away in the late evening hours of Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Legacy of Willow Bend Retirement Community. Mary Margaret was born on February 7, 1934 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to the late L.C. and Margaret Galt Moore. Following high school, Mary attended Baylor University where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Mary Margaret went on to work as a Registered Nurse for Baylor University Hospital and Parkland Hospital in Dallas and was the Assistant Director of Nursing in Psychiatry for over 20 years at the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
Mary Margaret was a member of numerous nursing associations over the years and the Alumni Association of Baylor University. She was a great cook and enjoyed travelling when her health allowed. Mary Margaret was a very intelligent, well rounded woman who was an avid reader. She was a great mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary Margaret is survived by one son David Gilligan, and wife Stacie, of Oregon; granddaughters, Jessica Gilligan of Plano and Carlie Gilligan of Seattle; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.
She was preceded in death by one son, Rice Hernandez.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 16, 2017 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home with Richard Rutledge officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
