Obituary of Leslie Eleanor Lykins

Leslie Eleanor Lykins, age 40, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Mount Pleasant, passed away in the early afternoon hours of Tuesday, October 31, 2017 near Omaha, Texas.  Leslie was born on December 12, 1976 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to the late Philip Michael Allen and Kathy Sue Drake Powers.  Following high school, Leslie attended college and became a skilled administrative assistant working for several companies throughout her working career.

Leslie married Jerrell Lee Lykins on April 16, 2016 at His House Ministries in Winnsboro.  Together they spent the last year and a half joining families and settling into a life together before her passing.

Leslie attended the His House Ministries in Winnsboro.  Those who were lucky enough to call her a friend will always remember her sense of humor.  She was witty, funny, and most of the time just plain silly.  Leslie had an outgoing personality and would make friends with anyone around her.  Leslie was gifted with the voice of an angel.  Her entire life, no matter where life took her, Leslie could brighten up a day with her song.  Leslie leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will live on in the hearts of those she knew and loved.

Leslie is survived by her husband Jerrell Lykins of Mount Vernon; daughters, Katherine Mahalie Daniels, Karsyn Makenlie Daniels, and Karoline Kole Gillean – all of Winnsboro; step-sons, Chance Lee Knoll, Chase Lee Lykins, and Baley Knoll – all of Mount Vernon; step-daughters, Kimbra Knoll and Madison Lykins – both of Mount Vernon; mother, Kathy Sue Powers of Hot Springs, Arkansas sister, Mallory Rachel Lawler of Mount Vernon; grandmother, Charlene Drake of Texarkana, Texas; aunts, Betty Ruth Crane Broom, and husband Frankie, of Mount Vernon and Artis Roberts of Naples; uncle, Cliff Drake, and wife Wanda, of Texarkana, Texas; nephews, Jackson Bradley Lawler, Bentley Alexander Simpson, and Braxton Wayne Simpson – all of Mount Vernon; loving cousin, Kimberly Crane Edwards, and husband Brandon, of Winnsboro; and by a host of other cousins, relatives, and very special friends.

Leslie was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Ottis and Ruth Allen and Robert Clifton Drake, Sr.; and by one aunt, Pamela Ann Rutledge.
