Obituary of Harvey Jack Kenemore

Harvey Jack Kenemore, age 77, of Scroggins, passed away suddenly in the mid-morning hours of Saturday, November 25, 2017, at his home with his loving wife and grandson – Lee Jack Kenemore.  Harvey was born on September 6, 1940 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to the late Lethal Lee and Vivian Voss Kenemore.  Following high school, Harvey proudly joined the United States Navy where he received numerous commendations and primarily served as submariner during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  While in the Navy, he received extensive training in counseling - which began his lifelong career as a marriage and family counselor and drug addiction counselor.

Harvey married the love of his life and his best friend, Joyce Youngman, on October 28, 1961 in Merced, California.  Together they spent the next 56 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories. She survives.

Harvey attended the North Ridge Church of Christ and was a member of the Lion’s Club.  In his younger days, Harvey enjoyed flying planes as private pilot of personal aircraft.  He also enjoyed fishing.  Those who were privileged to know Harvey knew his love of history, science, scripture and theology.  Harvey’s teachings were never forced or demeaning to anyone as he had a unique ability to understand perspectives other than his own.  Harvey was a compassionate, loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Scroggins; one son, Valton Lee Kenemore, and wife Yuri, of Scroggins; one daughter, Valorie Lee Kenemore, of Scroggins; grandchildren, Ashley Kenemore, Tiffany Kenemore, Britney Kenemore, Roxy Kenemore, Trent Chavira, Angela Chavira, and Lee Jack Kenemore ; one great-granddaughter, Naomi Chavira; one brother, Robert Kenemore of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Tommie Raines of Sulphur Springs and Frances Goldsmith of San Marcos; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.
