Obituary of Bryan Alcorn

Billy “Bryan” Alcorn was born May 17, 1972 at Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas to Billy Mack and Hazel Joan (Anderson) Alcorn. Bryan lived in Jack County, Texas until September 3, 1973, when he moved to Mount Vernon, Franklin County, Texas.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at age 12. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1990 and completed the police academy in 1992 and was sworn in under Franklin County Sherriff’s Office a few weeks later. Three years later, he transferred to Mount Vernon Police Department. Between the two, he served 25 years in law enforcement in the “blue” family. He was working for Uni-First at the time of his death.

He married his wife, Erika Danielle Mercer Alcorn, on February 26, 2012. She survives, along with their 3 children, Bridgette Marie Wyatt, Kaeden Bryan Nikolas Alcorn, and Elizabeth Michelle Alcorn. He is also survived by his parents, Bill and Joan Alcorn of Mount Vernon; his sister, Becky Holloway and husband Doug, and their daughter, Bonnie Holloway of Arlington; favorite aunt June Bug and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kaeli Alaina Ruth Alcorn and grandparents, George and Hettie Lee Alcorn and Luther and Hazel Anderson.

Bryan devoted his life to his family and his work. More importantly, he was dedicated to witnessing to others the love of Christ; and to helping love those who felt unloved and unworthy. He strived to help his family follow Christ and showed his love for others in everything he did and every person he encountered. In August of 2017, he helped lead his oldest 2 children, Bridgette and Kaeden, to Christ and witnessed them being baptized in September, 2017.

He was hard working, loved completely, and was dedicated to being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. He shared a daily verse with numerous friends, family and coworkers.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.  Funeral service will follow visitation at 1:00 pm with Billy Walker officiating.  Pallbearers will be Steven Mercer, Nathan Gaddis, James Hawkins, Robbie Moore, Jearld Stinnett and Chris Anderson; Honorary pallbearer is Kaeden Alcorn.  Interment will follow service at Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
