Obituary of Marjorie Ann Jaggers

Marjorie Ann Jaggers, 79, of Mount Vernon passed away on March 24, 2018. She was born on June 19, 1938 in Sulphur Bluff, Texas. She met the late Don Kenneth "Butch" Jaggers, love of her life in Mount Vernon, and they were married in 1957 at the First Baptist Church by Pastor John Whitt.

Marjorie and Butch lived in Dallas after he was discharged from the U. S. Army and she worked as the secretary for the superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District. After 18 years, they moved their family back to Mount Vernon and she worked in the law office of Woodrow Edwards, she worked at the First National Bank, and at one time she owned a fabric store on the Mount Vernon Square. Marjorie finished her career as Franklin County Tax Assessor. She enjoyed serving her community until her retirement in 2008 after 14 years of service.

Mrs. Jaggers was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. She was a founding member of the Key Club, a member of the Franklin County Genealogical Society, and a long time resident of Franklin County. She loved sewing, needle-point, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Jaggers is preceded in death by her parents, Clay Dean Dickson Jr. and Lou Beatrice Williams; husband, Don Kenneth Jaggers; two sons, David Keith and Joe Don; two brothers, Billy Jack Dickson and Royce Dickson and one sister, Martha Dean Hare.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Mike Jaggers and his wife Deana of Franklin County, Clay Jaggers and his wife Tammy of Franklin County; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her special caregiver, Carla; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is scheduled on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Texas. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Brother Pepper Puryear and Clay Dickson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mount Vernon City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Jaggers, Jake Jaggers, Zach Jaggers, Todd Martin, Matt Fort, Jody Stanley, Michael Long, and James Robert Campbell. Honorary Pallbearers are Tyler Jaggers and Jesse James.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Franklin County Genealogical Society.
