Obituary of Sue Tawater

Aletha Sue Phillips Tawater (Nanny), age 87, of Chandler, Texas went to heaven on August 20, 2018 in Tyler,Texas surrounded by her family.

Sue was born on September 20, 1930, at home in Delta County, Texas to Royce and Ima Presley Phillips.

She graduated from Cooper High School in 1948.

Sue had many occupations in her life including homemaker, wife and mother, bank employee, and legal receptionist, but most importantly, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Linda and Chris Frederick of Chandler, Texas; brother and wife, Tom and Martha Phillips of Mount Vernon, Texas; sister and husband, Joyce and Malcolm Bane of College Station, Texas; three beloved granddaughters and husbands, Marla and Jack Matthews of Tyler, Melody and Garrett Martin of Chandler, and Megan and Chad Sullivan of Lufkin; four great grandsons, Wyatt and Crosby Martin, Jackson and McClain Matthews, and baby Sullivan who is on the way. She also has numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Tawater, parents, a sister, Frances Lamb, and a nephew, Clint Barlow.

Graveside services will be Saturday, August 25, at Mount Vernon City Cemetery at 2 p.m. Her granddaughter, Marla Matthews, and great nephew, Caleb Phillips, will preside.

Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Chandler, the American Cancer Society, Homeplace Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
