Obituary of Sharron Jean Elliott

Sharron Jean Elliott passed away peacefully in her home in Plano, Texas in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 29, 2018 after a year and a half battle with Peritoneal Carcinomatosis. She was 66 years old. Being the incredibly strong woman that she was, she beat all the odds and was able to be with us significantly longer than doctors had predicted. Because of her strength and will to live, she was able to spend that extra time loving on her family and friends and enjoying her beloved land in Mt. Vernon.

Sharron was born on June 10, 1952 in Mt. Vernon, Texas to Doris and Kenneth Meek. She grew up with two sisters Charlotte, older, and Linda, younger. Many years later after Sharron was grown her parents adopted another sister, Jessica, to whom she was also very close. Her family moved several times during her childhood, but came back to Mt. Vernon where Sharron graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1970. After high school she moved to the big city, Dallas, TX, with a friend and worked as an Administrative Assistant for Wadley Hospitals. In 1971, she married Richard (Ric) Perry Elliott, also from Mt. Vernon, and the two established their home together in Dallas. Being the friendly and intriguing person that she was, Sharron made many lasting friendships in the Dallas area, some of whom are still like family. Sharron and Ric were married for 33 years and had one son, Miles Davis Elliott, whom she loved dearly and was very proud of. After some time at Wadley, Sharron transferred to Presbyterian Hospital Dallas and continued working as an Administrative Assistant. It was during this time Sharron became a part of an amazing group of women she called her "Presby Girls" or "Ya Ya's." The Ya Ya's are truly a sisterhood as they stood by Sharron until the very end. After many years with Presbyterian, Sharron decided to obtain her Texas Realtors License and soon after began working with Ebby Halliday and later with Dallas Luxury Realty. Sharron was always willing to help friends and family find and/or sell their homes. She even helped her son and daughter-in-law find their first home. When Sharron was getting close to retiring, she started showing luxury homes for Ron Davis Custom Homes where she could have a more flexible schedule and time to go out to her land.

Some of Sharron's favorite past times were playing the mandolin in the Big Woods Band with her sister, Charlotte, and brother-in law. She also loved being social and going out with her girlfriends in both Dallas and Mt. Vernon. Sharron loved her family dearly and very much enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren's lives. One of Sharron's greatest joys was being out in the country on her piece of land in Mt. Vernon. She would spend entire days working on the land even in the heat of the summer. She had a vision and she was very determined and hard-working. Sharron could grow anything and bring back life to any plant she touched. She was also an excellent teacher and loved to teach others about plants and gardening. Sharron particularly had a passion for growing trees and had a dream to put a tree farm out on her land one day. Sharron is survived by her son, Miles Elliott, his wife, Stephani, grandchildren, Milah Elizabeth and Preston Davis, sisters Charlotte Richey, Linda Truss, and Jessica Meek. She was preceded in death by her parents Doris and Kenneth Meek, and ex-husband Ric Elliott.

Sharron's services will be held at First United Methodist Church 522 TX-37, Mt Vernon, TX 75457 on Saturday, October 13 th at 2pm in the chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev Stephen Cotten and arrangements provided by Sam Harvey Funeral Home, 903-537-2232. Mom requested roses, calla lilies, hydrangeas, azaleas or potted plants for her service. Food will be provided in thanks to B.F. Hicks in the Fellowship Hall, following the service.
