Obituary of Marilyn Jean Hendrix

Marilyn Jean Witte Hendrix passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the age of 84.  She was born to Robert Henry Witte and Elma May Ball on February 10, 1935.  She died of natural causes and was recently preceded in death by her husband of 64 years; GB “Bud” Hendrix on April 15, 2019.  She is survived by her four sons and their wives; Gary and Judy Hendrix, Terry and Venetta Hendrix, Michael and Lori Hendrix, and Richard and Carol Hendrix as well as 2 of her 8 siblings; David Witte and Charles Witte.  She was preceded in death by her other 6 siblings; one sister; stillborn, Don Witte, Wanda Witte Riddle, Billy Witte, Robert Witte, and Carolyn Witte.  She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family, especially by 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Marilyn was born and raised in Oklahoma.  She served in the Air Force for 2 years and retired with honors.  She then traveled with her husband while he served in the Air Force and with the FAA for 26 years.  They then retired and lived in Mt. Vernon, TX for over 40 years where her husband Bud was born and raised.  They were both members of the local Church of Christ and shared a love for the beautiful countryside where they built a beautiful home together with the help of their sons.  Her wonderful talent and skills in knitting, crocheting, tatting, embroidery, painting and craftwork and other art forms was truly a gift to all who saw it or received her work.   

Funeral Services will be held at the Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon on Saturday April, 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a short military ceremony at the gravesite at the Mt.
